Jason Young Update

He was granted a new trial due to the testimony on the civil case judgement as well as similar testimony regarding a custody lawsuit involving the Young's daughter Cassidy "severely impeded" Jason Young's ability to receive a fair trial.

It has also be granted on the fact that Judge Stephens instructions "did not explicitly prohibit" them from using the civil cases "as proof of defendant's guilt in the criminal case."

The most recent movement on the case was on 08/20/2014 where the Supreme Court ruled the state can appeal the ruling granting the new trial.

Amanda Knox

I'm curious, how would you act if you found someone you knew dead in your house? I'm betting your spouting of how you would, but in reality, how do you know? People react in different ways in different scenarios. The truth is, no one knows how they will react to anything until they are actually in the moment.

From the get-go, people convicted Amanda simply based on how she behaved after the fact. Getting kisses from her boyfriend, a way to stay in reality people. She was in complete shock outside that house!

The right person is in jail. However, those that falsified evidence during the trial should be brought up on charges. I think it will be let be since that would mean going back over there and that's not happening in any form for Amanda :)

I'm so very happy for Amanda that she no longer has anything hanging over her and she can now do as she pleases. I hope the Kercher family can finally accept that the one in jail is indeed the one responsible. I think it will take more time but I hope they can come to that conclusion as well for their mental well being and their health period. Keeping that hatred in your heart isn't healthy especially when it is unwarranted.

Fred Tokars

Anyone recall this case from Atlanta, GA in the 90's? The Tokars and Associates ads on TV? He had his beautiful wife Sarah killed in front of her 2 little boys when they pulled up to the house... the boys ran to the house across a field etc.?

Well, you won't be able to write to him because he played snitch in 2 different prisons and is now some place not snitching but being protected because of what he did for 2 cases. The 2 felons came to him because they knew of him and knew he didn't like snitches or loose ends etc. They knew his reputation. Well, his boys are all grown up. Thanks to some wonderful angels and a great man.

The youngest (4 at the time) Mike Tokars has grown up to be an intern for a magazine in New York. He recently wrote an article posted here on ajc.com. It was so beautifully written!

I just feel bad that because their fathers not listed in the prison system they have no way to know where he is to keep away from him or decline things easily from him. They are wonderful boys despite their father!

Michael Peterson

This guys been out of the national news for a while so I thought I'd update you a bit on his case.

Last you probably heard he was convicted in October 2003 of the death of his wife Kathleen. Jurors said evidence  the defense is concerned about did not play a roll in their decision. They say the verdict boiled down to what happened inside the stairwell. The physical evidence.

Of course there is an appeal, and the focus of said appeal is based on his sexuality and the death of a family friend which were irrelevant and shouldn't have been heard by jury. Prosecutors never connected Peterson to Ratliff. The jury said Ratliff nor the issue of his sexual preference were ever discussed in deliberations. The never based their decision on Mrs. Ratliff during the murder trial impairing the efforts of defense attorneys to argue that an intruder had killed Kathleen Peterson.

The day after the death, a neighbor a few blocks away found a tire iron in his yard. Police & prosecutors didn't follow up on the discovery until part way through the trial, & didn't share any information about the tire iron with Peterson's former attorneys.

Check after the jump to see how he earned a new trial... actually he didn't... someone gave it to him!

Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, 67

She wrote the prescriptions for opiates, muscle relaxants, & other drugs found in the room Anna Nicole Smith died. She was originally convicted in 2010 of 2 counts of conspiracy to obtain prescriptions under a false name & acquitted of several other charges. She wasn't charged with the death.

The judge tossed the conviction after the trial saying it was not unusual in the celebrity world for fake names to be used to protect privacy. An appeals court reversed his ruling, leading to a re-sentencing. One charge was reduced to a misdemeanor & dismissed the other because it was reduced. He said the doctor had no criminal record or ill intent.

So basically the new ruling was a year of probation & fined $100 in the case but it was stayed as she already served the time while the case was being appealed. By throwing out one and dropping the other to a misdemeanor its basically telling doctors keep doing this!

It's because they are doing this that so many celebrities are dying! Doctors should be held to their oath 1st do no harm to their patients, no matter who they are or how much they are willing to pay, or bend the laws because they are celebrities!

This case closed means the only one left is Howard Stern with the same two charges. Wonder what they will do with him!

Thoughts?
